How I sorted through random Japanese records from The Internet and presented the results in three styles for your enjoyment.
According to The News, many of us spent a significant proportion of our lockdown days purchasing things on The Internet and, for my part, I focussed on job lots of random Japanese records. There is a risk involved in buying a large quantity of records sight unseen and with no clue as to their quality or content other than a blurred picture of the sleeves and inevitably some will find their way to the recycling centre, but that can be factored into the price I am prepared to pay when making a bid on the world's favourite internet auction site. The reason the risk is worth taking is the excitement felt opening the box which the local delivery person has struggled up the stairs with, sorting through the contents and then dropping the needle across the tracks listening for a hitherto undiscovered gem.
Having spent a considerable amount of time and effort finding some decent recordings, it would be selfish to keep them to myself so I have shared them in a mix which is divided into three sections. The first is a batch of groovy and smooth instrumental music, some of which would not be out of place on a seventies library album. Following that are some quite pleasant vocal numbers spanning the 1960s to 1980s and finally some songs which feature kids performing with results ranging from catchy and twee through to unusual and slightly scary.
